Data Migration Solution for an Acquisition (Food Processing)

Background

The customer operating in Europe acquired a business within the same industry and needed a data migration solution that could handle some of the complexities of the acquisition.

The migration of data was from a legacy 11i Oracle solution to SAP. The situation was complicated by the fact that the seller couldn’t provide access to the source system and the data migration window was contractually strict. This meant that the solution for DM needed to be robust and repeatable.

eAppSys was contacted by the management consultancy handling the acquisition and was selected to deliver the solution based on DMOne Cloud platform.

Legacy Oracle system data structures are several generations behind the latest version leading to data quality and volume challenges
Mapping of objects/business entities from Oracle to SAP

Solution

eAppSys built the solution for the same using DMOne platform managed the data from collection stage through to load and reconciliation
The DMOne output files were generated to match the required formats for SAP templates to avoid duplication of effort
The transformation rules catered for multi-stage migration of live data followed by historic data
